The hill fort was built by Kakateeya kings . For prataparudra deva II it was a major garrison and command centre, The fort has imposing stone entrances with images of Lions and elephants with kakateeya emblems. After fall of kakateeya empire the fort had some islamic structures like graves and masjids and few structures with Islamic architecture. It is near Medak church now in heart of the town.
