He was from sircilla in karimnagar district in todays Telangana state which was in former Hydaerabad state. He is very closely related to Dr Muthyala Govindarajulu naidu who married Sarojini naidu the noted congress leader of freedom struggle and follower of MK Gandhi. He went to Bombay in 1929 and acted in silent era movies and his journey was long spread over five decades. He was contemporary of Saigal sahib, surendraji and prithwiraj kapur sohrab Modi and Motilal.He was awarded dadasaheb phalke award for his contribution to cinema.
