Born shankaran REVOLUTILNARY. he was born in 1887.He studied MA at tiruvanantapuram and also got lucrative govt job. he on17 June 1911 shot and killed tax collector Robert Ashe of Ttirunelveli while he was travelling to madras in a train at station Maniychi when the train halted. Later, he shot himself with his pistol and died. The station had been named after him.

AWADH BEHARI REVOLUTIONARY MARTYR.. he was accused in Delhi conspiracy in which on23 dec 1912 a bomb was thrown at Lord hardinge the viceroy when he was going in a procession on elephant with his wife at chandni chowk at Delhi. the viceroy escaped with injuries along with his wife . But his attendant was killed. many were arrested along with bhai bal Mukund, Amir chand and young basant kumar biswas. Rasbihore bose the master mind could not be captured who fled to Japan. trials took place and bhai bal mukund, amir chand and avadh bihari were sentenced to death and were executed.on8 may 1915.

YOGENDRA SHUKLA..nationalist and REVOLUTIONARY. he was from bihar and foundermember of Hindusthan socialist Republican association and senior associate of bhagat singh , batukeswar dutta, Azad and others. he took part in many revolutionary activities and in 1932 he was, arrested and deported to andamans where he had to undergo torture. he spent five years and subsequent to his long protest fast, he was sent back on release in march 1938.he spent nearly 17 years in jail and later joined national Congress and took active part. During quit India movement he was imprisoned and along with jayprakash narain and other colleagues suraj narain singh, gulab chand gupta, ramnandan mishra, shaligram singh scaled the wall of Hazaribagh central jail and escaped. Jayaprakash narain was injured when he jumped thr wall and he had to be carried on shoulders by shukla and others to Gaya a distance of 124 km. They wanted to organise underground activities against the govt on the advice of jai prakash narain. This was a historic jail breaking in freedom movement . Govt announced bounty of Rs 5000 for his arrest and he was arrested on 7 dec 1942. he was kept in buxar jail jail for three years and kept in fetters. he was released in March 1946.in his later years , he was nominated as MLC to bihar legislative Council in 1958 and remained so till 1960.he passed away on 19 nov 1960 owing to loss of health due to long jail terms, strain and physical abuse. He also suffered blindness.

ANANT LAXMAN KANHERE.. REVOLUTIONARY. he had education at Aurangabad and was a staunch follower of damodar savarkar and tilak. he believed firmly that repression of Indians by the regime must be met by execution of British o!fficers. he shot dead young collector Jackson of nasik at jivyanand natyagraha a function hall on Dec 21.1909.he was arrested and tried and sentenced to death. He was hanged for the crime and he became a martyr.

BADAWON SINHA OR SINGH. REVOLUTIONARY. NATIONALIST, FREEDOM FIGHTER TRADE UNIONIST. He was drawn to freedom struggle from school days and became member of hindustan socialist Republican association and was much inflenced by yogendra shukla. When the school authorities came to know his links to HSRA he was rusticated and his formal education came to halt. he joined sadakat ashram and took intense military training. he worked with chandrashekhar azad and keshab chandra chajarborthy of HSRA. .he was a co conspirator in conspiracies of bhusaval, kakori, tirhut, delu aha and was arrested and imprisoned to seven years. But he escaped from bankipore central jail in June 1930 with in three days. but was, rearrested and sent to bhagalpur central jail. He fasted opposing the I'll treatment of prisoners. Was released in 1936 with restrictions. Which he violated. He was re arrested. During wwii he was again arrested under def of India rules.In 1941 he was under ground for some time and hewent to Afghanistan to get arms and ammunition. From 1936 to 1989 he was active in trade union and farmers activities andcwas much concerned about their welfare

HEMU KALANI, REVOLUTIONARY.. He was from sukkur from Sindh province of Bombay presidency in British India. And was member of All India students federation. AISF. when quit India movement was launched in India by Indian national Congress, The govt sent SPECIAL British troops to suppress the agitation in the province. Hemu kaLani and his associates planned to derail the train carrying the British troops and were removing fish plates of the rail tracks using ropes as they had no proper tools. They were seen by the authorities and Hemu was arrested while others escaped. he did not reveal names of his associates in spite of great torture. he was tried and sentenced to death. Public petition to show mercy to him was sent to govt and the govt put a condition that he should reeveal the names of his associates. But he did not reveal. he was hanged subsequently on 21 jan 1943. he was juust 19 years ten months.

BAIKUNTH SHUKLA, REVOLUTIONARY, he was the member of Hindustnn socialist revolutionary association HSRA.He was commissioned by HSRA to execute phanindra nath ghosh who turned approver that resulted in the death sentence to bhagat singh, rajguru and sukhdev and their subsequent execution . baikuntha shukla successfully carried hmmbl the task and killed the hmm betrayor on 9 nov 1932.Baikunth shukla was arrested. Tried and sentenced to death. He was hanged in gaya jail.

BHAI BAL MUKUND.. REVOLUTIONARY.. He was from Punjab and he working as tutor yo sons of maharaja of jodhpur. He was accused in Delhi conspiracy case. A bomb was thrown at viceroy Lord hardinge at delhi on 23 dec 1912 when he was seated on an elephant along with his wife in a procession at chandni chowk. he escaped with small injuries while his attendant died. later there, was a bomb blast at lahore too. and another bomb was thrown at some europeans on Lawrence road on 17 may 1913.. he was tried and sentenced to death.along with Basant kumar biswas and another two. he was hanged at Ambala jail. on 8 may 1915.

MN ROY ( manbendra roy) born as manabendra nath bhattacharya). Revolutionary, philosopher, communist thinker, founder of Mexican communist Party And writer. he travelled wide and interacted with great leaders of world like bagha jatin of India, lenin and stalin. And felt India will get freedom only by armed revolution and it pitted the British crown against him. When he returned from abroad in 1930 hecwas immediately arrested based on av warrant issued in 1924.He was tried literally summarily avoiding and negating judicial procedures and sentenced to 12 years prison term. he appealed to Allahabad high court and it reduced term to six years but his conviction was up held. the court charged him that he conspired to deprive king emperor george of England of his sovereign control over India. in different jails he suffered greatly and lost his health and became sick. after release ,he went to Allahabad to recupe and met J Nehru who had high regards for roy although politically they differed. he wrote profusely. He became great architect of communist thought in India in 20 century. he passed away in 1954.His letters and works were published as set of books which are much treasured.

PRITHVI SINGH AZAD.. REVOLUTIONARY.. he was from Punjab and was the founder member of ghadar party and was arrested along with other members when they arrived in India to launch armed struggle. he was tried and sentenced to 10 years Long jail term in lahore PRITHVI SINGH AZAD.. BHAI PERMANAND.. REVOLUTIONARY.He was from punjabi brahmin family and was from Arya samaj. He was much influenced by the letters of lala lajpat rai written to his father. He travelled in British colonies on South America and was an associate of lala hardayal who on the request oh Bhai PERMANAND went to America to spread message of Aryans. Bhai permanand was the founder member of ghadar party in America and he wrote a book tariq e hind for ghadar party. In 1914 he returned to India reportedly with 5000 ghadarites to start revolution and he was to work in peshawar. However the ghadarites were arrested and PERMANAND was sentenced to death in first lahore conspiracy case. Later, it was reduced to life term. He was sent to cejllular jail. However he was released under general amnesty in 1920.he passed away in 1947.martyr bal mukund was his younger brother who was hanged in Delhi conspiracy.

DURGA DEVI( bhabhi) she wasvan associate of Bhagat singh sukhdev and Rajguru of Hindusthan socialist Republican association. she played very important part after the shooting down of police officer Saunders by Bhagat singh and his associates. She helped the trio in escaping by train towards bengal. later she made many attempts to get the trio released by meeting Gandhi other leaders and even British administration at high level, When the trio were sentenced to death, she anttw revolutionaries prithvi singh azad and sukhdev raj planned to assassinate William Hailey governor of Punjab in Bombay. But due to very high security it was dropped. on 0 8 oct 1930 at lamjngton road police station they fired at a British couple from a car injuring sergent Taylor on hand and his wife on leg. She also fired four shots and slipped away. Later bhagat singh trio were executed and the revolutionaries were greatly got disorganized. And due to constant persecution she decided to surrender. she was imprisoned for six months and later was released with externment from delhi and Punjab for three years. she later moved to ghaziabad and lived away from public gaze. She refused to contest in elections and spent life away from public gaze . She passed away in old age after 81 years of public life.

VASUDEVAAY BALWANT PHADKE. REVOLUTIONARY IN19 CENTURY. he tried To Liberate Indian from colonial oppression moved by plight of farming community. With the help of bhils koli. And dhangar community he raised a band of revolutionary group. they started raiding wealthy European land Lords and business man. he became prominent when he gained control over pune city for gew days after he captured some British soldiers. when gaikwad eRuler of baroda was deposedby the British he opposed and gave sppeches to that effect. Severe famine and govt apathy forced him to tour deccan region. heotgsnised a band of people from ramoshi caste and lo ater bhils. Kols and dhangars were added. he raided many govt treasuries and looted money and gave to poor. in one if the actions with govt forces he lost his staunch aide daulat rav naikwas killed and it was a great set back to him. he also earlier toured nizams region to recruit arabs and rohillas. Soon he clashed direct with govt troops and a bounty was, declared for capture of phadke. In Turn phadke declared bounty for capture of governor of bombay apart from a reward for killing a british sepoy. when he was in nizams areas he was pursued by the British officers and near pandhar pur he was captured on20 julu 1879. He was taken to pune for trial and sentenced to life term. But he escaped from jail and soon arrested. He was sent to a prison in Aden where he Undertook fast and soon died. he came to be known as father of Indian armed rebellion .

BIRSA MUNDA, TRIBAL FREEDOM FIGHTER, REVOLUT IONARY, RELIGIOUS LEADER.He belonged to the tribal belt of khinti, ramar, sarwada and bangaon of bengal province during British raj now in jharkhand. And he was much particular ofprotecting rights of tribals who cultivated lands. Withprimitive methods the tribals could not produce surplus and hence the land owners leased lands to others who were non tribals. This created un rest in the, region and munda resisted and organised rebellion against authorities. he told the tribals to not to pay the rents for the lands and when the British learnt that munda threatened the tribals regarding the rents, they arrested him and hecess sentenced to two years jail term. he was released and later he clashed with missionaries who were convering tribals to Christianity. munda, declared that he was a prophet and the tribals should not pray to other gods. On 5 jan 1900 birsas followers killed two constables at etkedih and on 7 jan attacked the police station at khinti. the English govt declared a bounty of Rs 500 for the, arrest of munda, but he escaped to singhbum. he was arrested at jamkopai forest at chakradharpur on 3 March 1900.many were sentenced to long term prison terms, death and transportation . birsa diedin prison on 9 June 1900. After his death ,movement faded out. However govt passed orders that tribal lands can not be transfered to others. He is worshipped as a hero and many organizations places etc are named after him. Ranchi air port is named after him. His birth anniversary is celebrated in karnataka at mysore and kodughu dist on 15 nov.

KUSHAL KONWAR, MARTYR AND FREEDOM FIGHTER only to be hanged from ASSAM. he was from the village chiwdang chatuali in golaghat dist and his ancestry is traced to the last ahom king of Assam. on 8 Aug 1942,congress party declared quit India movement and on 10 oct 1942 in the morning haze ,some persons removed sleepets from the railway track in plains of Assam and a military train derailed leading to loss of many American and British lives. the police went all out to catch the offenders and they arrested kushal konwar although he was completely innocent. he was kept in jorhat jail and tried at court of humphrey who sentenced him to death although there, was no proof against him. Kushal was hanged in jorhat jail on 15 June 1943. He was the only person to be hanged from Assam during freedom struggle.

TIROT SING, THE RULER OF KHASI TRIBES, DURING THE RULE OF THE BRITISH IN INDIA. He was the chief of a khasi tribe consisting of many clans and he belonged to nongkhlaw and was constitutional head and governed his areasn with the help of a council of his clans. The British Under a treaty were given possessions in lower Assam and they wanted tk build a road between sylhet and lower assam and the road has to pass through khasi hills. Discussions were held between tribal chiefs and the British officers. tirot wanted to have control over some duars I. E passes that were occupied by raja of rani. the English officers agreed for same. However when men of tirot sing went to take possession of the passes they were found blocked. More over ,it was found that British troops were giving support to raja balram singh of the disputed passes. Consequently the troops of Tirot singh attacked the british garrison at Nongkhlaw on 4 april1929 killing two British officers And declared war against the British. In the ensuing terrible anglo khasi war, the natives had no quality fire arms and in open battle suffered greatly. Natives fought with bows , shields and arrows and swords. Native khasi chiefs then resorted to guerilla warfare and the war dragged on for 4 years leading to many casualties to the British. Finally Tirot was shot from a distance and he escaped and hid in a cave. however he was arrested in1933 and sent to dhaka and was kept under guard and where he passed away on 17 July 1835.he was just 32 years. every year Tirot singh day is celebrated in Meghalaya to honour him .He waged ear against the British to uphold dignity and freedom of our country and people and sacrificed himself in the process
