KUSHAL KONWAR, MARTYR AND FREEDOM FIGHTER only to be hanged from ASSAM. he was from the village chiwdang chatuali in golaghat dist and his ancestry is traced to the last ahom king of Assam. on 8 Aug 1942,congress party declared quit India movement and on 10 oct 1942 in the morning haze ,some persons removed sleepets from the railway track in plains of Assam and a military train derailed leading to loss of many American and British lives. the police went all out to catch the offenders and they arrested kushal konwar although he was completely innocent. he was kept in jorhat jail and tried at court of humphrey who sentenced him to death although there, was no proof against him. Kushal was hanged in jorhat jail on 15 June 1943. He was the only person to be hanged from Assam during freedom struggle.
