YOGENDRA SHUKLA..nationalist and REVOLUTIONARY. he was from bihar and foundermember of Hindusthan socialist Republican association and senior associate of bhagat singh , batukeswar dutta, Azad and others. he took part in many revolutionary activities and in 1932 he was, arrested and deported to andamans where he had to undergo torture. he spent five years and subsequent to his long protest fast, he was sent back on release in march 1938.he spent nearly 17 years in jail and later joined national Congress and took active part. During quit India movement he was imprisoned and along with jayprakash narain and other colleagues suraj narain singh, gulab chand gupta, ramnandan mishra, shaligram singh scaled the wall of Hazaribagh central jail and escaped. Jayaprakash narain was injured when he jumped thr wall and he had to be carried on shoulders by shukla and others to Gaya a distance of 124 km. They wanted to organise underground activities against the govt on the advice of jai prakash narain. This was a historic jail breaking in freedom movement . Govt announced bounty of Rs 5000 for his arrest and he was arrested on 7 dec 1942. he was kept in buxar jail jail for three years and kept in fetters. he was released in March 1946.in his later years , he was nominated as MLC to bihar legislative Council in 1958 and remained so till 1960.he passed away on 19 nov 1960 owing to loss of health due to long jail terms, strain and physical abuse. He also suffered blindness.
