BAGHA JATIN REVOLUTIONARY.. FROM bengal.. we I era.

BAGHA JATIN Was a title for Jatindranath chaterjee. A very famous revolutionary from  former united Bengal n the early period of last century in British India. He killed a royal Bengal tiger in an open combat in a forest and killed it by using a Gurkha knife only and was badly mauled and injured by the tiger. Luckily a. Doctor saved him and gave  him life Again.From then onwards he was known as  bagha jatin.bagh means tiger in Hindi.He was physically lrobust and powerful in unarmed combat.He was a great organizer and had a vision of liberating India through armed struggle and by an uprising for which he established Many co ordination cells, local units and didstributed them in the country. He organised the  yugantar  party  and he made arrangements to smuggle in arms and ammunition from Germany into India to facilitate an uprising. he was involved in  H ow rah sirpur on spinach of 1910, Zilch violence of 1911,  and assassination of deputy superintendent of police shams ul alam a British stooge. But he was acquitted as there was no evidence against him. He always acted such that he was insulated.He also created resentment in British INdia army regiments for rebelling when  called like done in 1857  not only in   India. But also abroad. he was in contact with champekraman pillaai in Germany and  others  in japan. .the plan of smuggling arms from Germany Unfortunately    was leaked  to authorities through Czech sources to USA and America informed British agencies and it was thwarted by police.the police accompanied by a British army unit arrived at katti pada near nala sore that was the most backward area and learnt that few Bengalis stayed in a hut. But sensing danger Jatin and his friends escaped. After two days chase , bagha jatin and his associates numbering five clashed with police near balasore in Orissa On 10 sept 1915, after digging a trench. jatin. Refused to leave and escape and he refused to desert the men, And the fight lasted 70 minutes. the rebels  were armed with Mauser pistols while the police was armed with modern rifles and plenty of ammunition. the casualties on  govt  were many and were not declared.jatin was seriously wounded and rebels Manoranjan sen Gupta and niten das Gupta were captured and later they were tried and hanged. They were caught when the ammunition was spent. Later Jatin breathed his last in an hospital. T he British officer commented that if jatin was born in England his statue would have been erected at Trafalgar Square next to lord Admiral Nelson. such was the respect he commanded even with enemies. had jatin been successful, he would have been the father of nation and not MKG as he was still in South     Africa. it is also true that successive congress Govts played  down contributions of jatin and an obscure railway station has been named after him apart from a small area in Calcutta. Shame.. To thankless nation.
