LT GEN HANUT SINGH RATHORE hailed from jasol in Rajasthan and was born on 6 July 1933.he studied at Dehradun and when he joined army was commissioned into the poona horse. he had distinguished career in army and commanded poona horse, II corps, Ist armoured division, 17 inf div, 14 ( I) armoured bde. he is well known for his role in 1971 war with Pakistan when his armoured regt made pulp of the enemy tanks at battle of Basantar on western Front and for gallantry was awarded MVC.he was also awarded PVSM for his commendable service in army. he retired in 1991 as Lt Gen. in his retired life he lived at Dehradun and devoted his time for meditation. he passed away at Dehradun on 10 April 2015 at the age of 1981.he was nicknamed as Huntie and gurudev. long live hismemory
