MAJA GEN IAN CARDOZO. India's first officer to command a batallion and a brigade in spite of being physically handicapped due to amuputation of a leg in war due to injury. he was bornonAug 7, 1937.He was from NDA and received both gold medal and silver medal for best all round performance and for standing first in order of merit. he was from 1/5 gorkha rifles and 4/5 GR. And commissioned in 1954.He took part in 1971 war at battle of sylhet. hecead awarded AVSM and sena medal. He e retired in 1993 Nx later he served as chairman Rehabilitation council of India and as trustee of National centre for promotion of employment for disabled people. his wife is priscilla cardozo and they have three children.
