LT GEN SAGAT SINGH.. DISTINGUISHED GENERAL OF INDIAN ARMY .He is known for invasion of goa and later liberation of Bangladesh. he was born on 14 July 1919. In Rajasthan at kusumdesar. He was commissioned in 3 GR and held commands 3/3 gr, 2/3 gr, 50 para brigade, 17 mtn divdiv and iv corps. he took part in 1971 war as commander of IV corps which excelled in famous advance over river meghna towards dhaka. he saw action At nathula and cho la clashes with china and annexation of Goa. he was awarded padma bhushan and PVSM. China had to swalllow bitter pill at the hands of gen sagat singh, To some extent he revived the prestige of Indian Army after 1962 defeat. gen sagat singh is fondly remembered for it. He achieved decisive tactical advantage by defeating Chinese troops in nathula and chola clashes when he was commanding 17 inf div. He was also GOC 101 communication zone in shillong. it was involved in operations in mizo hills. he excelled in all his appointments. He passed away on 26 sept 2001 at Delhi.
