FIELD MARSHAL SHFJ MANEKSHAW. He was WW II veteran on Burma front  in which he was injured by seven bullets and survived. He won MC. He was the outstanding  army chief in  1971 and led India to victory in Indo pak war of 1971 resulting in liberation of  East pakistan from Pak hold and a new nation Bangla desh was born.  One  Lakh pak army personnel surrendered lock stock and barrel. This was the biggest surrender after ww II on the russian  front by the German   army. .  Gen Bewoor succeeded him  after retirement although  he recommended Gen PS Bhagat as the successor. Gen Bhagat retired .
