RANI GAIDINLIU. She was  Naga woman and  was a spiritual and religious leader.  . At age 13 she joined the heraka  religious movement and soon it turned into a political agiatation  aiming to liberate entire naga areas  in Esatern India from the British. She was arrested and sentenced to life term  when she was 16.  Jawahar lal nehru met her in shillong jail and promised her to try for her early release . She could be only released in 1947 when India became free.   She  was against conversion of Nagas to Christianity and wanted preservation of Naga religious customs. Nehru gave her a title RANI.
